Real Time MLM Leads - Are They Really "Real Time?"

by Rich Niccolls
Real Time Leads (Also known as Live Leads or Instant Leads) are a favorite of many network marketers. But, just because they say "real time" doesn't actually mean they are instant, real time, or live. In fact, if you don't know what you're buying, you may be buying leads that are actually 2 - 3 weeks old.

This is part of a series on Home Business Leads that we are calling The Truth Be Told Series. The main purpose of this series is to clear the fog about what different leads companies say about their leads. You may think you're buying one thing, but you are completely getting another. Let's clear the fog on what is "real time." After all, if you are going to put down money for a batch of MLM Leads, you want to get what you paid for.

Here is an example of what an actual real time lead should look like, along with an example time frame to show how it should work:
  • 11:40 AM - The prospect is out on the Internet (maybe searching on Google).
  • 11:45 AM - He comes across a website that talks about working from home or starting his own home-based-business. This page is also called a "landing page." If the prospect wants more information about a home business, they must fill out the form on the landing page.
  • 11:52 AM - The prospect likes what they read, and he fills out the form and submits his information.
  • 11:52 AM - An email is sent out to you with the name of the prospect, and all of the information he filled out on the form.
  • 11:55 AM - You receive the email (sometimes it takes a minute or two, depending on how fast your email provider sends the email to you.
  • 11:58 AM - You call the prospect on the phone after reviewing his details.
So, there you go. Approximately 5 minutes after submitting his information, he is getting a call. (BTW, if you're not going to call your prospects within a couple of hours of receiving the email, either pause your leads or don't bother spending the money on real time leads). Ideally, in a ideal world and in an honest world, and in a world where all things were understood, that is how it should happen.

Let me say this clearly - If you are not getting real time leads like the example above, then you are not actually getting real time leads.

But, let's also be real. I know there can be a few bad apples in a bushel basket. You are always going to get the person who says they don't know what you're talking about or they never filled out a form. As much as we try and eliminate that... it still happens. That's why there's guarrantees.

But for the rest of the good apples in the bushel basket, you should be speaking to people who had just been to a website about working from home a few moments ago. Period.
~~ Side Note ~~
I want to make one more thing clear. Not everyone who fills out a form online is a doctor, nurse, lawyer, school teacher, or the ideal stay-at-home mom. Many of the people who fill out forms online may have a "different concept" about what it means to work from home. It may be because they have a different context to what that means than you do. Their neighbor may work from home as a job for his company; and therefore you have a prospect that thinks they are getting the same kind of deal.

That doesn't mean it's a bad lead. Too many people give up too easily on their leads. They are too quick to throw away a decent lead. It may take a bit more education to guide this person, but my main point is, when you purchase a list of 100 real time leads, you are going to get a variety of people who come from a variety of backgrounds, from a variety of different contexts. You need to learn to meet all these types where they are. If you need training on that, I suggest using Dani Johnson. She has great training on this.
Let me give you one example of a"so-called" real time lead that is NOT a real time lead. If you have ever bought real time telephone verified leads or real time telephone interviewed leads, then you are not actually buying "real time leads."

The scenerio may start like the one above, but rather than the email being sent to you at 11:52 AM, the prospect's name is added to a data base that will be sent to a call center within 24 - 48 hours. The call center will then attempt to contact the prospect for the interview or verification. Just like real life, the prospect may not be reached on the first attempt, and it may take several more attempts.

If the prospect is not reached right away, that lead can be set aside to try again later that day, or even a few days later. By the time the prospect is finally reached, it can be a few days, or even 2 - 3 weeks from the actual point where the prospect filled out the form.

The call center then conducts the interview, and typically within 5 - 30 minutes after the interview is complete, that lead is sent to you as a real time phone interviewed lead.

It is called "real time" because it is sent to you shortly after the interview is complete. It isn't actually real time... is it??!! The reality is, it can be a fresh, or semi-fresh lead that recently interviewed, and the use of the term "real time" is used to indicate it was newly interviewed.

Now, that's nothing to get angry about. That is the reality of interviewed leads. The interview may be fresh, but the lead may have some age on it. The interview, in essence, renews the lead and makes it a fresh prospect again.

But, an interviewed lead, by definition, can never truly be a "real time" lead.

Does that make sense?

Here's the deal. If you want an actual instant lead, a live lead, or a real time lead, then know what you are buying. It is still the lead of choice when it comes to people who are working with home business companies in the following categories:
  1. Health and Nutrition
  2. Legal (i.e. PrePaid Legal)
  3. Travel
  4. Financial
Or, essentially any company that you make an immediate profit of $100 or more when you enroll a new distributor is good to use real time leads.

If you make quite a bit less than $100 (i.e. $10 or $25), then you might want to consider using aged leads. But, for anyone in one of those categories above, or any other type of company where you make $100 or more, then I highly suggest you get Real Time Leads as your primary lead to build your business with.

Be smart, but don't trip over dimes on your way to dollars. Get the training you need to be the most efficient and effective in building your business. I highly recommend the use of any one of our real time leads.

Why do I recommend real time leads? Because when I visit with, meet, or speak on the phone with the top distributors in almost any given network marketing company, these top distributors use real time leads. I'm talking about PrePaid Legal, Herbalife, Mannatech, Coastal Vacations, Primerica, Vemma, Xango, etc. There is a reason why these associates are full-time, making $10K per month, $50K per month, or more. They are trained well and they know the value of using the best leads they can.

There are many other factors when it comes to real time leads that we can discuss, but those are topics for another day in our Truth Be Told Series. One of the main things I want to talk about is the "cheap" real time leads. You would be better off taking your family out for a nice dinner than wasting your money and time on those cheapo real time leads.
