My #1 Home Business Lead Choice For 2009

Over the last 6+ years I have been asked the question by customers, "What kind of lead do you think is best for my business?" several hundred times. I have usually given them an answer based upon the popularity of what has been ordered the most over the last several months. That's usually a good answer under normal circumstances. BUT, 2009 is not normal circumstances.

People deserve a better answer. Over the last several weeks I have been thinking about this topic and lots of ideas and thoughts have been going through my mind. I finally organized them and did some research on what seems to be a very BIG trend with very positive results. Let me tell you what I mean.
My Philosophy On Business Building

My mentor early on was a dynamic and inspirational leader by the name of Jett. Jett made a huge impact on me not because of the powerful system he had put in place with all the bells and whistles and cool websites. Jett made a huge impact on me because of his simple and powerful approach to building a business - Massive Action.

He called it collapsing time frames. Consider calling through 1,000 leads. What if you did that in 6 months, or how about 1 month, or how about 1 week! You basically take what you would normally do in a much longer period of time and collapse the time frame down to a much smaller period of time (i.e. from 6 months down to 1 week).

What kind of momentum would you create in calling through 1,000 leads in 6 months vs. calling through 1,000 leads in 1 week? You get the idea... taking massive action to get massive results.

Massive Action In 2009

So, how are you going to take massive action? What is the best approach for 2009? What I am referring to is, how can you take massive action in this economy? Is it practical to call through 500 real time leads per week? That would be $1,500 per week! Yikes!

And even if you could, that's not very duplicatable for others to follow!

If I was building a business today, I would stop playing around with getting 20-30 leads per month and begin calling through 500 leads per week. In 2009, with my philosophy, I would leave behind all the real time leads and go straight for the discount survey leads as the perfect lead to build my home business.

Why? Let me give you 3 reasons why:
  1. It's cheap
  2. It's a proven method
  3. It's easy to duplicate
You don't need any more reason than that to start using discount survey leads.

It's Cheap

Discount survey leads are about 10-15% of the cost of real time leads. You get more leads for your money.

Listen, this isn't 2007 or 2008. You must approach business building with a different mind set right now - both for yourself and your downline. You can fight me on this, but this isn't a time to dabble with expensive leads, calling a couple leads a day, praying you'll sign up 1 or 2 this year.

People right now are attracted to successful people and people with a real plan to lift them above mediocrity. Using discount survey leads in a massive way can do just that as you see from the examples below.

It's A Proven Method

I didn't have to look far. Gary is a presidential in Mannatech. He's been buying and using cheap MLM leads for years now. I spoke to him about 3 weeks ago to see how he was doing. He is dialing through about 200-300 1-Month old survey leads each week and is watching his business grow in big ways.
"I have found that there's no competition with these leads. People have stopped calling them and they are more receptive. I've stepped up my numbers this year simply because this may be the best time in my lifetime to grow my business. Using these 1-month leads allows me to call through large numbers and get my team to call through large numbers too. I've never had so much momentum."
Gary isn't the only one. How about Mike with Ameriplan. Mike had been using a system in buying real time leads and putting them through a funnel system to enroll about 3 new associates every 2 months. That was then. This is now:
"About 5 months ago I switched to using older home business leads. I call through at least 100, and sometimes as high as 500 in one week. It's a fraction of the cost for me to build my business this way now. I was getting 3 new IBO's every two months. Now I am getting 3 new IBO's per week. I'm spending less money on leads and getting better results. On top of that, I have a higher percentage of new IBO's recruiting new IBO's than ever before, and that's what I'm most excited about."
What these two guys are doing is really an amazing thing. I believe these two guys have found a solution to building a strong business in 2009.

You'll Have To Change Your Thinking

If you're going to work Aged Leads, then you have to approach them differently. Most people approach real time leads wrong anyway, but you cannot approach aged leads by saying something lame like, "My name is Rich, and you don't know me, but you filled out a form online asking for information about a home-based business."

Give me a break. I would hang up on you. That approach barely worked 10-20 years ago, and it doesn't work now. That is such a negative approach and you are setting yourself up for failure.

Can you tell me what you had for lunch 37 days ago? I highly doubt it. If you are using aged leads, you can't expect the prospect to know what they were doing on the Internet exactly 37 days ago.

If you are going to be calling leads, then you need to be using Dani Johnson's Script Book! Why would you use anything else? It creates conversation and lends itself to building trust. It is the best approach that I have seen. If you don't have the Dani Johnson's Script Book, I would recommend that being your next purchase.

The bottom line is that you need to leave behind some of the stuff you've been taught and approach Discount Survey Leads differently. If you can do that, you will be highly successful with these leads.

What You Can Expect

Finally, let me say this. If you use Discount Survey leads, you are going to come across some bad numbers and disconnects. Not many, but a small percentage is normal. So what? (If you were calling through MLM Genealogy Leads, having a 50% disconnect rate is normal). Having a bad lead rate of 5 - 10% is to be expected with aged home business leads. Sometimes a bit higher; sometimes a bit lower. But, don't get hung up on that.

Look at the two examples above, from Gary and Mike. They are going through lots of numbers to get the numbers they are getting. Do you think Mike is crying over 10 bad leads when he had 3 new IBO's joining his business every week? Do you think Gary is complaining about a small percentage of bad leads when he is earning fast start bonuses of $200 for every new person in his business?

Focus on what you need to focus on and concentrate on what you can control - your action.

Final Thought

I'll say it again, if I was building a business in 2009, I would be using Discount Survey Leads as one of the primary ways I was building my business. It's cheap. You can create massive action and momentum. The results are already proven.

Is it the only way? No, I never said that. But, in today's economy and with the extreme opportunity that is before us in 2009, I would certainly put my best effort into using Discount Survey Leads to build my business.
