What NOT To Do With Your Leads

Buying MLM Leads and using them in your business sounds simple enough.  However, many times when people buy a batch of leads, something happens from the point of purchase to the point of actually using them.  I’m not exactly sure what that thing is… some kind of fuzzy, cloudy, muddy obstruction creeps in and obscures the vision.

I have found several things that people begin doing with their leads that are things you should NOT do when you buy a list of network marketing leads.  Let’s look at a few of them.

1) People Do Not Use The Leads – This should go without saying, but there are still many people who spend $45 – $100 on a list of leads, and they never call them.  Or they call five to ten of them, and because they were told “No” a few times, they write off the rest of the leads and they quit.  Then, they blame the leads as not productive, poor quality, and will tell you that leads don’t work.

Solution #1 - This is simple.  Just use the leads, get over your fears, put the responsibility of success on your shoulders, not on others.  You invested in the leads, now use them.

Solution #2 – Another solution would be to get some training and build your confidense in using leads.  Check out our Dani Johnson page for more information on training.

2) People Try To Discredit Rather Than Disqualify – I found many (far too many) home business owners who have a chip on their should against lead companies.  They call me up and begin telling me how they’ve been burned by another leads company and how bad these other companies are.  Quite frankly, I don’t want that person’s business either.  The problem is usually not an issue with the leads companies but an issue with the customer (and yes, I am saying that sometimes the customer is not always right).  Too many people buy a list of leads and as they begin calling through the list, they are more interested in discrediting the list than qualifying and disqualifying prospects.

They may call a lead and say, “A couple days ago, did you fill out a form asking for more information about working from home?”  Or, “Did anyone ever call you to ask you about working from home?”  That’s just plain stupid is what that is. If someone called me up and asked that question, I would say “No” and hang up. I don’t want to talk to someone like that.

Solution #1 – Get the chip off your shoulder and realize that your income is in direct proportion to your personal development. You need to change your attitude or there isn’t any list in the world that will ever meet your needs.

Solution #2 – Just like the previous problem, you need some training in a big way.  You have possibly bigger issues than lack of confidence. But, the good news is that learning how to properly approach leads will help you take all those “bad lists” and turn them into gold.

3) People Complain About The Bad Leads – I can give you list of 50 of my very best leads, and there will probably be a disconnected phone number in there or someone who says they never asked for information. You can either complain about it or realize that bad leads are inevitable.  It doesn’t matter how much you paid or how good the list is, there will be some bad leads. We replace those, but rather that realizing a few bad leads are normal and getting those replaced, people begin to complain and actually get hostile about a few bad leads.

I understand bad leads are not fun. But we can get those replaced.

Solution #1 – keep working through leads.  Get to be a pro at working leads and you will find that you don’t worry about the small things anymore.  You work your leads, get the bad ones replaced, and keep working leads.

Conclusion

I can guarantee that the people who worry and do one or more of these three things remain part-time in the industry and their income will never be what their dreams wish for. I’m not making any excuses for leads, but I can take a list from any one of these 3 issues and give it to someone with more experience, and they will produce from that list.  They don’t get caught up in the trivial.

If you want to be successful, one idea is to do the opposite of what the unsuccessful are doing.  The unsuccessful do not follow through, they have a chip on their shoulder, and they compalin a lot.  Do the opposite of that and you’ll do well!

Don’t Be A Whiner Or A Wiener

wienerIt’s a new year.  Stop doing the things that have not delivered for you in 2009 and do something new.  Let me give you some suggestions:

FIRST, get hooked up with Dani Johnson.  If you do nothing else, get to her First Steps seminar.  It WILL change you and your business.  Get her script book for calling through your leads.  Get hooked up with her information.  Dani Johnson is the only person I endorse for complete training for yourself and building your home business.

SECOND, get on the Peak Impact Live Calls.  Hear experts calling through leads, what they’re saying, how they handle objections, what they don’t do that you do, and what they do that you don’t.  Click on the link for the call schedule.

I’ve mentioned before that all of our phone leads, real time leads, specialty leads, and survey leads are all from Peak Impact.  You get all the benefits from Peak Impact for less when you order through National Leads.  You get the best leads in the industry for less through National Leads.

THIRD, check out our new Instant Voice Leads.  These are powerful, powerful leads.   The Voice Leads are one of the most popular ones for us…customers have great luck with them…the prospects seem more committed, when they have to physically leave a message, rather than just filling a form out online!

Just click on the link above to listen to the same information that the prospect hears before leaving you a voice mail as to why they should join your business.  Read the 3 points as to how these leads work.  It is not only a powerful lead, it is a cool lead too!

BE BOLD this year!  Don’t be a whiner or a wiener.  Whiners complain and blame everyone else for their problems.  Wieners are weak, spineless, and lack the ability to lead.

The Dip, by Seth Godin

thedip If there is one book you need before December 31st, it is Seth Godin’s “The Dip.”

It is a very short book, it’s inexpensive.  You can get it dirt cheap at Amazon, or you can get the abridged audio on iTunes.   I went to Barnes and Noble and bought mine for $5.

It is not a new book.  In fact, I bought it a couple of years ago, but there isn’t a better book to go through at the end of the year than this little book.

It’s a book about 3 things:

  1. Why you want to be the “Best In The World” at what you do
  2. When you need to stick with something through “The Dip” so you can be the best in the world
  3. When and what you need to quit so that you can be the best in the world.

I would say the simple things I learned from this short book are what enabled me to reach beyond “just getting by” and moving on to a greater level of success.  In fact, I put on my cell phone the phrase, “What do I need to quit?” so that every time I went to use my cell phone, I was reminded of this principle.

So, if you have a dog, cat, fish, or some other pet, go buy the book and wrap it up as a gift from your pet to you.  It’s a great way to get a gift for yourself .

Anyway, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.  I bought this book for a pastor, who in turn bought it for the entire leadership to go through.  It’s a book that can help you eliminate the distractions to focus on what is going to take you to the top.
